Confession time: I’m a terrible mood reader, which is why this post is called a tentative TBR and not a definite one. That said, all of the books above are books I definitely want to get to sooner rather than later, but I can’t guarantee it will be this month, just like I can’t guarantee I won’t change my mind halfway through the month and pick up something different.
The books are:
Sophie Mackintosh – The Water Cure: Part of my “read some of the 2018 Man Booker longlist” project, and also the book I’m currently reading
Daisy Johnson – Everything Under: also part of the Man Booker longlist & my attempt at reading more contemporary fiction
Rosemary Sutcliff – Sword at Sunset: A retelling of Arthurian legend by one of my favourite authors which has been on my TBR for far too long
Charles Maturin – Melmoth the Wanderer: the only season-appropriate Gothic novel on this list; everyone needs to read about people making deals with the devil from time to time
Annalena McAfee – Hame: a book about a woman who moves to a lonely Scottish island to write about a local poet’s life and works; bought this on a whim earlier this year because it has a lot of the things I like
Jeanette Winterson – The Stone Gods: I’ve been meaning to get into Jeanette Winterson for a while and when my local bookstore had this book, I decided to take the plunge
Toni Morrison – Home: A library book that I should return soon and that I know very little about; I’ve heard good things about Morrison, though, and there are already way too many long books on this TBR
In addition, I’m still making my way through Les Misérables, and probably will be for the rest of the year.
Except for the Winterson and Morrison ones, all of the books in this post are part of the list of books I really want to get to this year.
